Ashley Herron to Be Sworn In as Ripon Postmaster

Ripon will soon officially welcome Ashley Herron as the city’s new Postmaster. Herron is scheduled to be sworn in during a formal installation ceremony on Friday, July 31, at noon at the Ripon Post Office, located at 1275 W. Main Street. USPS California 2 Manager of Post Office Operations Sukdev Dhami will administer the oath.

Herron steps into the role during her 11th year with the United States Postal Service. She began her postal career in Merced in 2015 as a rural carrier before moving into management in Modesto in 2022.

For Herron, the new position is both a professional milestone and an opportunity to continue serving the community through one of the most familiar and relied-upon local services.

“It is a great honor and privilege to become Postmaster in Ripon,” Herron said in the USPS announcement.

She said her goal is to continue providing strong customer service through a well-trained staff while keeping open communication with customers so the office can help meet their postal needs.

As Ripon Postmaster, Herron will oversee a busy local operation. According to USPS, the Ripon Post Office manages approximately 1,400 post office boxes, more than 6,300 daily deliveries, 19 employees, five rural routes and seven city carrier routes. The office handles more than 15,000 pieces of mail each day and serves a population of more than 16,000 people.

The position places Herron at the center of an important community operation that residents and businesses depend on daily, from mail and package delivery to post office box service and customer support.

Herron attended Modesto Junior College, where she obtained her real estate certification.

Her installation comes as the United States Postal Service marks 250 years of service. USPS notes that it is an independent federal establishment and generally does not receive tax dollars for operating expenses, relying instead on the sale of postage, products and services.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place Friday, July 31, at noon at the Ripon Post Office, 1275 W. Main Street.
