Damaged Bike and Pedestrian Bridge to Be Repaired

The City of Ripon has announced long-awaited repairs to the Bike & Pedestrian Bridge, severely damaged in a windstorm last October. The bridge, a vital crossing over the Stanislaus River, has been closed since a fallen tree rendered it unsafe for public use.

According to a Nixle alert from the City, a structural engineer's inspection confirmed the extent of the damage. After exploring options, officials determined that replacing the damaged segment with a new one was the only feasible repair solution.

The City of Ripon, Stanislaus County, and the San Joaquin Council of Governments are sharing the cost of repairs, highlighting the bridge's importance to the community. The new segment is expected to be completed and in place by late 2024 or early 2025, restoring a key route for cyclists and pedestrians.
