Today, Ripon Police announced that Officer Michael Perry recently completed Motor Officer Training, a two-
week course at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center, designed to teach basic motor skills, judgment, safety, proficiency, and patrol procedures. Officer Perry is now qualified as a motor officer, having met all mandates and requirements as set forth by Peace Officer Standards and Training, according to the department's social media post.
As a qualified motor officer, Officer Perry will be deployed for directed traffic enforcement and will assist with special events in the city throughout the year. Ripon Police Department Motor Officers are not assigned to traffic duties full time, but carry out special assignments as needed
