Ripon Implements New Water Conservation Measures for 2025

Residents are adjusting to new water conservation rules as the city rolls out its seasonal watering schedule this month. The comprehensive plan aims to manage water resources more efficiently while maintaining residential landscaping needs.

Under the new regulations, residents must follow a strict three-day watering schedule based on their street address. Properties with even-numbered addresses are permitted to water on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, while odd-numbered addresses are assigned to Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

The schedule has been designed to ensure fair distribution of water resources across the community. The restrictions include a complete watering ban during peak evaporation hours, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and no watering is allowed on Mondays.

The city has also introduced weather-responsive measures, prohibiting landscape irrigation for 48 hours after measurable rainfall. Additionally, residents can no longer use water to clean outdoor surfaces such as driveways, sidewalks, and parking lots, except when necessary for health, safety, or fire protection purposes.

These water conservation measures will remain in effect through October 2025. Residents seeking additional information can visit the city's official website at www.cityofripn.org.

The new regulations reflect growing concerns about water conservation in California, as communities across the state continue to implement similar measures to protect vital water resources.
