Ripon PD Welcomes New K-9 Team: Officer Matt Brodhag and Jack

The Ripon Police Department is excited to announce the addition of its newest K-9 team: Officer Matthew Brodhag and his partner, Jack, according to their social media post. Officer Brodhag, who joined the department in 2021, has been assigned to patrol duties until the completion of an intensive K-9 handler training course this fall.

Jack, a two-year-old German Shepherd, hails from Germany, where he was trained by the world-renowned dog trainer, Markus Maaser. Maaser is no stranger to the Ripon PD, having also trained the department's previous two patrol K-9s, Vitus and Argos.

Beginning in September, Officer Brodhag and Jack will embark on an eight-week training course to meet the rigorous standards set by the Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) program. Upon completion, they will join the ranks of Ripon's patrol division, increasing the department's K-9 presence to two canine units.

The Ripon Police Department is eager to see the impact this new team will have on keeping our community safe, according to their post on social media.
