The Ripon Police Department is taking a proactive approach to summer safety with two comprehensive training events for bicycle, e-bike, and e-scooter riders. These hands-on workshops aim to equip community members with essential skills for safer riding.

Each four-hour session will cover crucial safety fundamentals, including the ABC Quick Check maintenance routine, proper hand signaling techniques, and correct helmet fitting. Officers will also provide detailed instruction on local traffic laws and regulations that apply to cyclists and electric vehicle riders.

"These events are a great opportunity for riders of all ages to boost their skills and awareness for a safer biking experience," said a spokesperson from the Ripon Police Department.

Adding an element of fun to the educational experience, participants can test their newly acquired skills on an obstacle course. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own bikes, e-bikes, or e-scooters to get the most out of the training.

The events will be held on two Saturdays: May 3rd from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Lan Park basketball courts, and May 31st during the same hours at Boesch Kingery Park basketball courts.

The sessions also provide a unique opportunity for community members to interact directly with local law enforcement officers, ask questions, and build positive relationships with the department.

Those interested in participating can contact Officer West at (209) 652-8185 for additional information about the program.
