Schools Put On Lockdown After Police Foot Chase

A 23-year-old Stockton man was arrested shortly before noon Tuesday after being chased down in a foot pursuit by school officials and police officers.

One student in a nearby classroom videoed the suspect jumping off a portable classroom roof with high school principal Keith Rangel below trying to tackle him before he bolted off campus toward the Ripon Elementary School campus. Police picked up the foot pursuit and took Jordan Anderson, 23, into custody on the Ripon Elementary School playground.

Police said Anderson had allegedly stolen a generator from the ACE Schemper’s Hardware Store Tuesday morning, around 11:00 AM, however the value of the generator was below the $950 limit that would keep the theft to the level of only a misdemeanor.

After the theft he had ran onto the Ripon Christian Schools campus where he had been lost by those chasing him, then showing up on the roof of Ripon high school.

Charges would include the theft, being on a school campus while in session and running from officers, none of which are felonies.

Officers said no charges would be made until his mental stability was established.
