Suspect in Manteca Murder Arrested in Ripon

Ripon, CA – An 18-year old man was arrested near Kiwi Ct. and Blossom Dr. in Ripon early this morning in connection with a shooting death in a fast food parking lot and a carjacking around Daniels St. and Airport Way in Manteca on Tuesday night.

Angel Israel Miranda, 19, is a felon on active parole and has been booked into county jail on charges of homicide, carjacking and felon in possession of a firearm, according to law enforcement.

Manteca police received a report on Tuesday around 9:45 pm of shots fired around Daniels St. and Airport Way.

Once officers arrived, they found a man in the Taco Bell parking lot suffering from multiple gunshots. The man was shortly pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. The victim’s name has not been released.

During the investigation, a witness reported seeing the suspect run towards Highway 120.

During the investigation of the homicide, a report of a carjacking in the area of Airport Way and Highway 120 was reported to Manteca police, near the shooting scene.

Shortly after the carjacking was reported, Ripon police notified Manteca police and reported they had found the vehicle that was taken in the carjacking and had detained a subject, later identified as Miranda, after he had run from the vehicle.

Manteca police detectives from the homicide scene at the Taco Bell parking lot was called to the scene in Ripon after the subject, Miranda, made comments to officers about being involved in a shooting in Manteca. Investigators reported that a total of 3 scenes now are involved in this case.

Police have determined that Miranda is allegedly responsible for the homicide shooting and carjacking.
