Top Dog Police Canine Training In Ripon

The Top Dog Police Training facility on Highway 120 brought in 15 canines and their handlers for a 40-hour week of training from tracking to working in residential and business district searches throughout the Ripon community.

Following the straight-line tracking, the handlers and their mentors introduced turns in the tracking maneuvers with officers from as far away as South San Francisco, San Francisco County Sheriff’s Department, Belmont, Turlock, Pleasanton, Santa Clara, California State Parks, and Tuolumne County.

The week-long event was kicked off in the palatial home of CEO Ron Cloward centering the facility’s inside training west of St. Patrick’s Church on Highway 120 in Ripon. While the ground floor is used for group training, the basement has been turned into small rooms for the canines to be trained in residential and business searches.

Manteca Police Department Officer Jason Massey is among six of the school’s trainers. He works with his canine Cody when on duty in Manteca.

The canines were mostly German Shepherds but also included Belgian Malinois in their numbers. Cloward long served as a police sergeant in Stanislaus County before launching his canine school.
